Mummy of a young crocodile
This crocodile mummy was found during the excavations of Grenfell and Hunt in the Fayum. It is wrapped in linen and surrounded by a double wire. The eyes are made of painted cartonnage. Radiologic studies on the mummy have shown that it is actually an ancient forgery, made of an unidentified material. Excavation: Grenfell & Hunt 1901-1902
