Zig-Zag chair
When Rietveld designed the Zig-Zag chair, he broke with conventional chair typologies. The Zig-Zag chair is made of four planes of elm wood, which are intricately dovetailed, then glued and bolted together. With its horizontal seat supported on a diagonal rather than vertical plane, the chair expresses the cantilever principle in a most direct and articulate way.
