Tartar Archer
Netsuke carved from ivory, depicting a Tartar archer with an arrow in his hands, his quiver on his back. The man's clothing, richly decorated with incised motifs, corresponds more to the Japanese interpretation of Chinese clothing than to the Tartar reality. With such sashes and long robes it is difficult to shoot an arrow on horseback.
