shroud
Fragment of linen from a male shroud. Dates to early-mid 2nd century AD. From Thebes, West Bank. Area of the chest of an Osiris figure wearing a bead net over a red garment with traces of a broad collar at the top. The beginning of a column of inscription is visible but has been left uninscribed. The faded and stained areas might indicate where strips of linen held the shroud in place.
