Coal Picking Belt
Miners sort coal into grades on a picking belt in the Woodhorn Colliery, Ashington. Humphrey Spender took the photograph during Mass Observation's trip to meet the Pitmen Painters. The mine is now a museum and visitor's centre (2012).
