Schnabelkanne, beak-spouted flagon, MG 015
This beak-spouted flagon is of beaten bronze. Standing on a slightly splayed base, the body rises to a slightly bulbous shoulder (H 26 x W 13cm), where it narrows before sloping steeply upward on one side to a flat rimmed pouring mouth. The separately cast handle has a terminal at the lower end, decorated with a palmette, S-spirals and scrolls ending in a lotus flower above and a lyre below. Above…
