Ivory Diptych or Devotional Panel (Garden of Eden)
A diptych leaf (dexter) in ivory, showing scenes of the labours of life in two registers. The upper shows the expulsion from the Garden of Eden and the lower register the results of the Fall, showing people toiling. One of the figures in the bottom register is damaged. The style of carvings on diptychs throughout this period reflect that used by manuscript illuminators.
