Aquila chrysaetos
Aquila chrysaetos is a large bird of prey, attaining about 1 meter in length and a weight up to 7 Kg. The head of this specimen was prepared to show the nictitating membrane, i.e. a third eyelid found in some animal species and which can be lowered over the eye to protect and hydrate it while still maintaining visibility
