How to create and use a Europeana account
Creating a Europeana account allows you to save your favourite items, and to create public and private galleries. It's quick and easy – here's how.
Sign up
To make an account, click LOGIN in the top menu. On the registration page, enter your email address, create and confirm a secure password (minimum 8 characters). Then confirm that you are at least 13 years old, and that you have read and accept Europeana's terms and conditions and our privacy policy. If you want to receive our monthly newsletter, then tick the box 'I want to receive the latest news from Europeana'.
After you have completed ad submitted the registration form, we'll send you an email to verify the address linked to your new account. Simply click the enclosed link and your account is ready to go!
Likes
With a Europeana account, it's easy to save your favourite items for future reference. Simply click on the heart icon that you see on item pages and search results, and click again to un-like an item:
Galleries
Creating and building galleries of your favourite items is easy too. Simply click on the + symbol next to the item. You will then be prompted to 'Create new gallery' or add to an existing gallery, as shown here:
In the My Likes & Galleries section of your account area, you can edit the names and descriptions of your galleries. You can choose whether to make your galleries private (visible to you only) or public (visible to other Europeana users).
