Franz Liszt was the President of the Academy of Music from 1875 till 1886. He spent several months in Budapest giving concerts and teaching piano. The scores held by the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum were collected during these years and in accordance with the composer's will, all items became the property of the Academy.
